Situated in Guangzhou, “City of Flowers”, South China Agricultural University (SCAU) listed in the Double First-Class Initiative of China. The university is strong in its academic research and well equipped with research facilities.
There are 14 national research platforms, 12 key laboratories of the Ministry of Agriculture, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 14 Guangdong Provincial key laboratories, 2 Engineering Research Centers of the Ministry of Education, and 2 Guangdong provincial key Research Bases for Humanities and Social Sciences.
The New Plant Variety Testing Center (Guangzhou branch) of the MOA, the Livestock and Poultry Products Supervision and Testing Center (Guangzhou branch) of the MOA, Plant and Plant Microbial Ecological Environment Safety Supervision, Inspection and Testing Center of the MOA (Guangzhou branch), the State Genetically Modified Crops Testing and Supervision Center (South China branch), Guangdong Rural Area Policy Research Center and Guangdong Timber and Wood Products Quality Supervision and Testing Center are all stationed inside SCAU.
The research outputs of SCAU have been increasing steadily over the years. Since 2012, SCAU established 12 international joint labs/research centers (including those set up with Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan counterparts). According to the latest statistics of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, 14 disciplines of the University entered global top 1% including Plant and Animal Science, Chemistry, Agricultural Sciences, Environmental Science and Ecology, Materials Science, Engineering, Biology and Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Computer Science, Immunology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Clinical Medicine, Social Sciences General.
