On the afternoon of April 16th, a delegation from the University of Newcastle, Australia, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Craig Simmons and Pro Vice Chancellor for Global Partnerships Ms. Sunny Yang, consisting of five members, visited SCAU. They were received by SCAU Vice President Qiu Rongliang, who hosted a discussion with the delegation.
Introduction and Discussion on Partnership
Craig Simmons provided an overview of the University of Newcastle, including details about the faculties of Engineering, Science, and Environment. He affirmed the friendly cooperation between the two universities in recent years. Simmons highlighted the importance the University of Newcastle places on its partnership with SCAU, noting the strong foundation and broad prospects for collaboration. He expressed hopes to continue joint efforts to deepen cooperation in the field of landscape architecture, enhance academic exchange, research collaboration, and talent cultivation in the field of engineering, and to foster practical cooperation aimed at nurturing more innovative talents.
Qiu Rongliang welcomed the delegation and gave a brief introduction to SCAU's talent cultivation, academic development, and international cooperation. As a Double First-Class university, SCAU is committed to expanding the global network of exchanges and encouraging faculty and students to participate in international collaborative projects. Qiu noted the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between SCAU and the University of Newcastle. The 3+2 dual-degree program in Landscape Architecture initiated in 2018, has seen continuous improvement in the quality of training, with the first students successfully graduating from the University of Newcastle in 2023. He expressed the desire to use this visit as an opportunity to further broaden the areas of cooperation.
Gift Exchange
Following the meeting, the delegation visited the College of Forestry and Landscape Architecture and College of Water Conservancy and Civil Engineering, engaging in in-depth discussions with faculty and students regarding future collaborative efforts.
