Li Fengliang, native of Funing, Jiangsu Province, was born in November 1971 and took his first job in July 1994. Li is now Chairman of South China Agricultural University (SCAU) Council.
He studied Chinese Language and Literature at Jiangsu Normal University in 1990 and received his bachelor's degree in 1994; he entered Jinan University in 1996 to study for his master's degree in Literature and Arts, and was admitted to the PhD programme in 1998. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Southern California from September 2007 to August 2008. He was appointed Vice Chairman of Council of Southern University of Science and Technology in October 2016 and Chairman of Council of Southern University of Science and Technology in July 2021.
In 2015, he was honored as a national candidate for the "Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Talents Project" and a "Young and Middle-aged Expert with Outstanding Contribution". In 2017, he was selected as one of the "Four Batches" of talents of the Ministry of Propaganda; and in 2018, he was included in the "National High-Level Talents Special Support Programme" as a Leading Talent in Social Science, Guangdong Provincial Leading Talents in Publicity, Thought and Culture. In 2019, he was awarded the Third Outstanding Social Scientist of Guangdong Province.
He is mainly engaged in research on literary theory, cultural industry and urban civilization. He has presided over 6 national projects (including 3 major projects of the National Social Science Foundation), 10 provincial and ministerial projects, published 30 books (including co-authorship), and published more than 100 academic papers and 200 cultural reviews. He has been awarded the "20 Years of Academic Contribution to China's Cultural Industry Award”, the "Young Teacher Award for Universities" by the Fok Ying Tung Education Foundation, and the Guangdong Literature Criticism Award.
He also serves as the Vice President of the Chinese Society of World Chinese Literature, the Vice President of the Cultural Industry Research Association of the Chinese Society of Arts, and a member of the Teaching Steering Council of Art Theory of the Ministry of Education.
