Recently, Qiu Rongliang, vice president SCAU, led a delegation to visit Latin American countries. On the evening of June 23 local time, Chinese Language and Agricultural Science and Technology Development Center jointly established by SCAU and the Federal University of Mato Grosso(UFMT) in Brazil held an unveiling ceremony. Zhu Qingqiao, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil, and Ma Jianfei, director of the Language for Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education (CLEC) sent congratulatory letters, Allan Kardec and Cesar Miranda, Secretaries of Mato Grosso State, Evandro Soares, President of UFMT, and Qiu Rongliang attended and delivered speeches.
In his congratulatory message, Zhu Qingqiao expressed the hope that Center cultivate professionals who understand Chinese and are skilled in agriculture, actively serve the needs of cooperation between the two sides, and promote the high-quality development of scientific and educational cooperation between the two countries.
Ma Jianfei, who said in his congratulatory message, regarded it as an important symbol of the vigorous development of educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and Brazil. It is believed that with the joint efforts of both parties, Center will inject new impetus and vitality into Chinese language education, agricultural science and research cooperation, and enhance the understanding between the two peoples.
On behalf of the state of Mato Grosso, Secretary Allan Kardec expressed his congratulations on the establishment of Center. It is the epitome of the strengthened cooperation between Mato Grosso State and Chinese universities in the field of academic research in recent years. He is willing to cooperate with SCAU, and jointly promote the development of future partnerships between the two parties.
Qiu Rongliang said, focusing on exploring the Chinese + Agriculture characteristic cooperation model, SCAU and UFMT would take advantage of their disciplines and international resources, play the role of language bridge, promote Chinese education and agricultural cooperation, which rely on the efforts made by governments, universities, research institutions and enterprises involved.
Evandro Soares emphasized the important position of UFMT in the field of agronomy and the importance of its personnel training for the economic development of Mato Grosso State, and the Chinese + Agriculture model play a pioneering role. This bilateral cooperation will help establish partnerships with other Chinese entities to further promote regional development and improve people's well-being.
Vice President Qiu Rongliang and President Evandro Soares unveiled Center. Teachers and students of UFMT gave cultural performance with local characteristics. SCAU students performed gongs and drums, singing and dancing, and martial arts through video connections. The event received attention and reports from mainstream Brazilian media such as G1 and local media in Mato Grosso.
In June 2022, with the support of CLEC, SCAU signed contracts with UFMT and the Autonomous University of Chapingo in Mexico respectively to jointly build the Chinese + Agricultural platforms. Over the past year, Center has offered online Chinese, Spanish and Portuguese courses, and held Chinese + Agricultural Culture seminar, etc. At present, the first batch of books on Chinese language education and traditional Chinese culture has arrived at UFMT.
