Recently, the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (hereinafter referred to as IEET) 2019 Accreditation of Engineering Programs certification ceremony and Two Shores and Four Places Engineering Education forum was held at Zhuhai College, Beijing Institute of Technology. The conference announced the majors of universities in Guangdong Province that passed the IEET Accreditation of Engineering Programs in 2018. Among them, Vehicle Engineering and Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering of SCAU have passed the accreditation, becomingthe first batch to pass the international engineering education accreditation in SCAU. It is an important breakthrough forthe engineering education of SCAU. It is also an important achievement of the school actively promoting the new reform engineering project and promoting the construction of high-level Science and Engineering Universities.
In 2015, SCAU started the preparation for the accreditation of engineering education. All relevant schools take the major accreditation as the starting point, adhere to the concept of “student as center, output orientation, continuous improvement”, continuously strengthening the construction of major connotation, continuously improving the quality of personnel training, and continuously constructing major to achieve new results. In November 2018, the majors of school Vehicle Engineering and Water Resources and Hydropower Engineering accepted the field visits of IEET Accreditation of Engineering Programs. Through the accreditation, it shows that the quality of these two professional training meets the requirements of IEET certification standards, and the teaching quality reaches the international professional standards Washington Accord . Students who graduates during the accreditation period equip with internationally recognized basic conditions for obtaining qualifications in foreign related engineering fields, which will further enhance the competency of graduates.
With strong professionalism and authority in the field of professional certification, IEET was established in 2003, joining the Washington Agreement and other international education accreditation agreements. The essential goal of IEET certification is not about comparing and ranking, but to confirm that the majors achieves its own educational goals and graduates of those majors have the core competence. By this, this certification mechanism maintain the quality of education and pursue continuous improvement.
