On May 27th, the 2018 MODEL APEC South Central China Regional Competition was held at the Yifu International Conference Center of Huazhong Normal University. After the college selection competitions in various districts in central and southern China, 43 representatives from 11 universities participated in the regional competition.

    Five students of our university,Li Yuzhu, He Zhuangyi, Huang Dandan, Lin Rongyu and Zhong Yiwen, stood out in the competition with their abundant knowledge, excellent on-the-spot speech skills and skilled critical thinking. In the end, Li Yuzhu, He Zhuangyi, Huang Dandan won the first prize, Lin Rongyu won the second prize, and Zhong Yiwen won the third prize. The three students who won the first prize successfully advanced and will participate in the 2018 MODEL APEC National Finals held in Baotou, Inner Mongolia in July.

    The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is the most important economic cooperation forum in the Asia-Pacific region and the highest level of inter-governmental economic cooperation mechanism in the Asia-Pacific region. Founded in 2010, Model APEC covers 144 universities and high schools nationwide, with a total of 100,000 young people participating in the conference. It has built a platform for Asia-Pacific youth to interact with government officials, business leaders and distinguished scholars. It is of great significance to guide contemporary youth to understand and support public diplomacy in the Asia-Pacific region and actively participate in public policy making.
