Invited by Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and University of Malaya, Vice President Yang Zhou and Director of Organization Department, Cao Xianwei, went to Singapore and Malaysia to participate in the third Belt And Road and International Talent Training Forum held by China, Singapore and Malaysia, from March 4 to March 11, 2018.
The forum was on the topic of the Belt And Road Initiative and international talent training. Held by Graduate School of Public Administration of Nanyang Technological University, the forumis in its third yearwith strong support from Chen Zhenchuan Foundation. Leaders of renowned universities from China, Singapore and Malaysia were attracted to participate actively. It had made effective progress in exploring the internationalization of universities, innovative talents cultivation and university-level cooperation among Chin, Singapore and Malaysia. 37 leaders from 18 prestigious universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Sun Yat-Sen Universityattended the forum.
In the venue in Singapore, Vice President of SCAU Yang Zhou introduced the outcomes of our construction of high level universities, internationalization of talents cultivation, faculty construction, and the policy and measures of the high-level talents introduction.
During the forum, Yang Zhou and the delegation communicated with Cao Shihai, thecounselor (education) of Embassy of China in Singapore , who attended the opening ceremony, and expressed our gratitude to him for his concern and support toour overseas talent introduction. Counselor Cao indicated that he would continue to support and assistthe internationalization of SCAU, especially in reinforcing the cooperation between universities in China and Singapore with his advantages in contacting. In addition, the delegation discussed with the guest speakers Vice President Chen Jinliang and Honorary President Xu Guanlin of Nanyang Technological University in strengtheningthe mode and methodthe cooperation between the two universities in the field of talent training and scientific research further. Meanwhile, Director of Office of Human Resources Ding Hongxing, who participated in the training of the national scholarship council in Singapore, join the the communication.
The participants also visited and learnt about Nanyang Technological University-University of British Columbia Joint Laboratory of Lily, Alibaba-Nanyang Technological University Joint Research Institute in Singapore and other research institutions and laboratories, as well asthe application of advanced teaching methods like flipped classrooms. In Malaysia, the attendees visited University of Malaya and Xiamen University Malaysia.
The participants exchanged ideas in responding to the Belt And Road Initiative, promotingvariant talent training models, strengthening the exchanges and visitsbetween teachers and researchers, expanding the channels and establishing a platformfor scientific research cooperation, and staff training.
