On the afternoon of March 10th, The president of Taiwan Ocean University, Zhang Qingfeng, with gang of four came to visit SCAU. Our president Chen Xiaoyang attended the greetings. Both sides signed a memorandum of academic exchanges and cooperation and would carry out in-depth exchanges in the future .
President Chen mentioned the history and achievements of SCAU in welcome speech, and extended the wish that taking the memorandum signing as a start, both sides will conduct more co-operation with in the fields of academy, education, scientific research, personnel exchanges and social services, etc. Zhang Qingfeng, President of Taiwan Ocean University, praised the comprehensive strength of SCAU in teaching and scientific research, campus environment and other aspects. He stated that Taiwan Ocean University would be willing to establish long-term, amicable, all-aspects and co-operational relationship with SCAU.
In the meeting, the memorandum of academic exchange and co-operation was signed,including the clauses concerned students-and-teachers exchange, joint symposium, scientific teaching communication and co-operation, etc, which aims to promote the academic research, educational development and improve educational level and research quality.
Taiwan Ocean University was founded in 1953, is a key university with the characteristics of marine specialty, teaching and research. It is the best institution in the field that related shipping and ocean in Taiwan. In Times Higher Education Supplement 2011-2012 world university rankings, Taiwan Ocean University is among the world's top 400. Inside the university, there are 7 colleges, including College of Marine and Management, College of Life Sciences, College of Marine Science and Resources, College of Engineering, College of Electrical Information,etc.
