On September 14, a delegation from Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HK PolyU) led by Chair Professor WONG Wing-tak paid a visit to SCAU. Delegates were warmly hosted by Vice President LIU Yahong. They had in-depth discussion about fostering stronger research ties.
Vice President LIU noted, in her welcoming address, that SCAU and HK PolyU enjoy great prospects for cooperation. The two institutions offer similar courses, share research interest, and have geographic convenience. SCAU’s recent success of becoming a High-Quality Key Construction University of Guangdong Province adds a special advantage to forward cooperaiton. The two universities can start from key disciplines such as Veterinary Medicine, Food Science and Life Sciences. A joint research center may be the first step. She also proposed a doctoral program to share educational resources.
SCAU's representatives from the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Food Science and the College of Life Sciences presented outputs in relevant research areas.
Prof. WONG Wing-tak went on to introduce HK PolyU and emphasized that a joint research center is the best bet to share resources and bring up scientific breakthroughs. Asso. Prof. CHEN Sheng presented HK PolyU’s latest achievements in life sciences, cancer research, food safety and traditional Chinese medicine. He suggested that the HK PolyU Research Institute in Shenzhen could serve as a workplace for collaborative research projects.
