Liu Yahong, female, Professor, winner of Chang Jiang Scholars Program, National Outstanding Youth foundation and Pearl River Scholars Program. As the deputy director of Pharmacology and toxicology branch of the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine, member of the expert review group of National Natural Science Foundation of China, member of national agricultural products quality and safety risk assessment expert committee, member of Veterinary Medicine review committee of the Ministry of Agriculture, Liu was nominated as Vice President of South China Agricultural University by Guangdong government in July 2014.
Liu received her Bachelor degree in veterinary and Master degree in veterinary pharmacology and toxicology from Northeast Agricultural University in 1990 and 1993 respectively. In July 1996, she received her doctoral degree in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology from SCAU. After graduation, she became a lecturer at SCAU College of Veterinary Medicine and was promoted to professor and doctoral supervisor in December 2003.Besides, she was a visiting scholar at School of Veterinary Medicine, North Carolina State University from June to December, 1997, and a postdoctoral fellow in College of Pharmacy, the University of Michigan from February 2000 to February 2001.
Liu’s research interests focus on veterinary pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, drug resistance of veterinary pathogenic microorganisms and rapid detection and monitoring of veterinary drug residues. Her group was the first one to study on the veterinary population pharmacokinetics and veterinary physiological pharmacokinetic model in China. She presides more than 30 national and provincial research projects such as science and technology key project supported by the "the eleventh five-year plan", jointed project by National Natural Science Foundation of China and Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, the innovation team project of the Ministry of education, and veterinary drug residue index project of the Ministry of Agriculture, etc. Her research funds are over 20,000,000 RMB and she published more than 50 articles or papers with two national grade two new veterinary drug certificates and 5 provincial and ministerial level science and technology awards.
