Research Achievements

SCAU, with an indomitable spirit in regards to scientific and research strategy, promotes active innovation in basic research and strives for a breakthrough in the higher technological fields. As regards applied research on the economic construction battlefront, the university fosters a key discipline link between its priority, agricultural science and technology, and its characteristic, life science, and provides a forceful scientific and technological support to building Guangdong into a modern strong socialist province sooner than other areas of the county.

By 2003, the university had a total research funds worth over 58,000,000 yuan (RMB). Since the national Ninth Five-Year Plan, the university has obtained 2 national Special Key Projects and one national Major Science and Technology Industrial Engineering Projects. It has 3 national 10th Five-Year Plan projects, 2 national ¡°973¡± Planned Projects, 8 Special Sub-projects, 14 national ¡°863¡± Planned Projects, 4 national Transgenic Special Projects, 2 national Comprehensive Agricultural Development Projects, and 6 candidates for national Agricultural Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Foundation, 5 candidates for national Spark Program, 2 national Soft Science Development Projects, 2 national Major Technology of Agricultural Structural Readjustment Projects and 9 ¡°948¡± Projects of the Ministry of Agriculture; 24 candidates for the Guangdong 10th Five-Year Plan Science and Technology Special Projects, and 2 Guangdong Major Bidding Projects. SCAU has received 96 scientific Achievement awards at the provincial and ministerial level, among which are 4 second prizes on national Scientific and Technology Progress awards, 12 first prizes on provincial and ministerial level Scientific and Technology Progress awards, 22 second prizes and 27 third prizes on provincial and ministerial level Scientific and Technology Progress awards, and 3 first prizes on provincial and ministerial level Agricultural Extension awards.
