Liao Ming, professor in Preventive Veterinary Medicine, is Vice-president of South China Agricultural University and member of CPC SCAU Committee.
Liao was born in November 1968 in Beijing, and since 1997 he has worked in College of Veterinary Medicine, South China Agricultural University. His main research interests focus on poultry diseases. Liao was promoted to be professor in December 2002 and was visiting scholar in Department of Microbiology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine in the U.S. in 2003-2004. In 2006, he was entitled to the special government allowances, and was selected into the Program for Training Talents toward/in the 21st Century funded by the Ministry of Education. He was successively elected Deputy Dean and Dean of College of Veterinary Medicine (2002-2008). In the year 2008, Liao was appointed “the Pearl River Scholar” of Guangdong Province.
Currently he also holds posts as Director of the Key Laboratory of Prevention and Control of Animal Diseases of the Ministry of Agriculture, Editor-in-chief of Poultry and Poultry Disease Prevention, member of the Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Agriculture, Executive Director of the Chinese Association of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, Deputy Director of Society of Poultry Diseases and Chinese Association of Animal and Veterinary Medicine and so on.
